Vladimir Putin’s re-election has been a sobering turn of events for Russia and the West alike. The modernisation introduced by his predecessor has not been continued. On the contrary, freedom of expression has been dramatically limited. The actions against Pussy Riot are symptomatic of a hostile societal climate. In the Syria crisis, Russia continues to position itself as an opponent of the West. Also German-Russian relations have grown increasingly strained. At the same time a range of strategic economic factors with risks and opportunities for Russia and the West are at stake.
This event is part of re:thinking tomorrow, a discussion series hosted by Deutsche Welle and the Hertie School of Governance.

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
