Alain Badiou (geb. 1937) gilt als einer der wichtigsten und umstrittensten Philosophen der Gegenwart und als führender Vertreter einer linkshegelianisch geprägten politischen Philosophie. In seinem Hauptwerk „Das Sein und das Ereignis“ legt er herausragend den Wert mengentheoretischer Axiome für Fragen politischer Philosophie offen, die sein Denken bis heute prägen. Im Zusammenhang mit dem Vortrag findet auch eine Konferenz für internationale Experten statt.
