Das Arboretum der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin ließ der Baumschulbesitzer Franz Späth 1879 im Stil eines englischen Landschaftsparkes anlegen. Es beherbergt heute 1.200 Gehölzarten und -sorten und insgesamt fast 4.000 verschiedene Pflanzenarten aller Kontinente. In der Anlage finden sich eine systematische Abteilung, ein Arznei- und Gewürzpflanzenquartier, eine Moor- und Teichanlage sowie ein Steingarten mit Gebirgs- und Farnpflanzen.
In stimmungsvoller Umgebung veranstaltet das Kulturamt Treptow-Köpenick ein Frühkonzert mit dem Kammerchor Sing!Sing! e.V.. Im Anschluss führen Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter durch die Lebendsammlung des Arboretums. Flankiert wird die Veranstaltung durch das Frühlingsfest der benachbarten Späth’schen Baumschulen vom 30. April bis zum 1. Mai 2016.
