Die Geisteswissenschaften haben den Körper als "Ort der Mannigfaltigkeit" entdeckt: der Biologie, des Geistes und der Ästhetik. In der öffentlichen Diskussion werden diese Aspekte immer als Gegensatz angesehen.
Naturwissenschaft, Geisteswissenschaft, Kunst und Kommunikation miteinander zu verbinden und in einen interdisziplinären Dialog zu treten, ist das Anliegen des internationalen Symposiums "Körpermaschinen - Maschinenkörper" an der Freien Universität Berlin.
Das Symposium ist eine Gemeinschaftsveranstaltung des Interdisziplinären Zentrums für Historische Anthropologie der FU Berlin und des Instituts für Ethnologie der Universität Heidelberg.
