PIOTR T. CHRUSCIEL
born 1957 in Zabrze, Poland, has been appointed Professor of Gravitational Physics at the University of Vienna in April 2010. He studied Physics at the University of Warsaw. After his PhD graduation 1986 in Physics at the Polish Academy of Sciences he became a Research Associate until 1996 there. From 1994 until 2010 he held a professorship for Mathematics at the University of Tours, France (on leave of absence from 2006). In 2006, Chruściel became Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford until 2010. He has been Fellow of Clare Hall College, Cambridge (Life Member since 2006), as well as a Humboldt Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute), Golm and a EPSRC Research Fellow at the Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Cambridge. He is editorial board member of Annales Henri Poincaré and Communications in Mathematical Physics.
Research interests:
mathematical problems that arise in Einstein‘s theory of gravitation, partial differential equations of mathematical physics, global differential geometric problems in physics.
