ZUR PERSON:
Markus Aspelmeyer, geboren 1974 in Schongau/Deutschland, ist seit August 2009 Professor für Quantum Information on the Nanoscale an der Universität Wien. 1993-98 Studium der Physik an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) München, 1996-2000 Studium der Philosophie an der Hochschule für Philosophie München. 2002 Doktorat in Physik an der LMU München. 2002-03 Feodor Lynen Postdoc-Fellowship am Institut für Experimentalphysik der Universität Wien, 2003-06 Universitätsassistent ebendort. 2007-09 Senior Scientist am Institut für Quantenoptik und Quanteninformation der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften (ÖAW), Visiting Researcher u.a. an der Harvard University und der University of Illinois. Zahlreiche Auszeichnungen, darunter Fresnel Prize der European Physical Society, Ignaz L. Lieben-Preis der ÖAW, Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel-Forschungspreis der Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung und ERC Starting Grant, seit 2010 Mitglied der Jungen Kurie der ÖAW.
FORSCHUNGSSCHWERPUNKTE:
Grundlagen der Quantenphysik,Quanteneffekte in nano- und mikromechanischen Systemen (Quanten-Optomechanik), Quantenoptik und Quanteninformation.
