ZUR PERSON:
Christos N. Likos, geboren 1966 in Athen, ist seit Juni 2010 Professor für Multiscale Computational Physics an der Universität Wien. 1983-88 Studium der Elektrotechnik an der Nationalen Technischen Hochschule Athen, 1988-93 Doktoratsstudium der Physik an der Cornell University, USA. 1993-94 Alexander von Humboldt-Stipendiat an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, 1994-96 Marie Curie-Stipendiat an der Universität Triest. 1996-98 Forschungsstipendium am Institut für Festkörperforschung des Forschungszentrums Jülich. 1999-2002 Assistent und Dozent an der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, 2000 Habilitation. 2002-03 Heisenberg-Stipendium der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft, University of Cambridge. 2003-10 Professor für Theoretische Physik an der Universität Düsseldorf. Forschungsaufenthalte u.a. an der Princeton University und der University of Pennsylvania.
Forschungsschwerpunkte: Theorie und Simulation der weichen kondensierten Materie; effektive Wechselwirkungen komplexer Makromoleküle; Statistische Mechanik und Phasenübergänge; Dynamik und Glasübergänge; Dichtefunktionaltheorie; Eingeschränkte Systeme und Oberflächen.
