Nach dem Urknall gab es zunächst einmal fast nur Wasserstoff und Helium. Wo kommen all die anderen chemischen Elemente her, zum Beispiel die, aus denen wir Menschen aufgebaut sind? Und warum gibt es nur eine endliche Anzahl von Elementen? Warum findet man mehr Eisen als Gold? Unter welchen Umständen und wo sind diese Elemente entstanden? Die Spur führt uns zur Sonne und zu den Sternen, solchen die friedlich vor sich hin leuchten, und solchen, die in Supernovae explodieren.
