One of the biggest changes, brought by the presidency of Volodymyr Zelens’kyj, was the renewal of political elites. Even though the discussions about the quality of the so called “new faces”, through this spectacular change of government, were the main reason that got her into parliament, politicians like Maryna Bardina are the hope of the country. In her lecture the young politician will be presenting one of the main topics of the new government – the fight for Gender Equality, which came into focus of Ukrainian politics and government reforms. In the last few years, the Ukraine beheld important changes: quota systems for gender were realised in electoral law and new rules for children supervision were developed. The legal mechanisms to prevent domestic violence were improved as well – Ukraine participates in the Biarritz Partnership for Gender Equality. Nevertheless, the support of female leadership in pollical parties and the continuance of the principle of Gender equality in the country’s politics are big challenges for the country. After the lecture the audience will get the chance to question the in foreign countries still fairly unknown members of the “Grünen”.
