Bild des HR 8799-Planetensystems, in der Mitte: der Zentralstern HR 8799. Eine sorgfältige Untersuchung zeigt, dass es sich bei drei der Lichtflecken um Planeten handelt (durch Kreise gekennzeichnet): Bei 11 Uhr angefangen, im Uhrzeigersinn, und von außen nach innen sind das HR 8799b, HR8799c und HR8799d. Die anderen Strukturen sind Artefakte, wie sie bei einer solch schwierigen Beobachtungssituation - Stern und Planeten stehen extrem nahe beieinander, und der Stern ist einige tausend Mal heller als die Planeten - unvermeidbar sind.
