On 12 March 2026, Informationsdienst Wissenschaft (idw) presented the idw Award for Science Communication to the press offices of GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel, TU Dortmund University and Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.
According to the jury, they published the three best science press releases of the past year.
A total of 98 press offices from Germany, Austria and Switzerland submitted entries. The award recognises press releases distinguished by high editorial quality, strong news value and helpful additional elements such as images or links for further reading.
