Kreuzungsexperimente kurz- und langlebiger Stämme von Nothobranchius furzeri (Türkiser Prachtgrundkärpfling) – einem Fisch aus Ostafrika, der sich mit seiner Lebensdauer an die unterschiedlich langen Regenzeiten angepasst hat. Kurzlebige Fische kommen aus Simbabwe; langlebigere Fische aus Mosambik. Selbst bei optimalen Bedingungen im Laboraquarium – bei ausreichend Wasser und bestem Futter - ändert sich die Lebensspanne der Fische nicht.
