Bei einem moralischen Dilemma muß man sich zwischen zwei Alternativen mit negativen Auswirkungen entscheiden. Ein bekanntes Beispiel ist das "Trolley-Dilemma". Hierbei rast ein Zug auf eine Gruppe von fünf Gleisarbeitern zu. Nur durch das Ziehen eines Hebels kann man den Zug auf einen anderen Gleis lenken und so verhindern dass die Gleisarbeiter überfahren werden – dadurch wird aber ein einzelner Gleisarbeiter ums Leben kommen.
