Der ITD als Funktionsmuster, auf einem Dreibein montiert (Gesamthöhe ca. 65 cm). Am Gehäuse und am Werkstück sind passive Marker (Leuchtpunkte) angebracht, sodass beide mit einem optischen Trackingsystem verfolgt werden können. Das Werkzeug (Bohrer) wird über eine sog. Hexaglide Kinematik in sechs Freiheitsgraden bewegt, sodass Störungen von außen in allen Richtungen ausgeglichen werden können, wenn ein „Werkstück“ bearbeitet wird.
