Einen Prototypen der Übergangskupplung überreichte TU-Rektor Prof. Dr. Arnold van Zyl (vorne links) bereits an Bahnvorstand Dr. Rüdiger Grube anlässlich dessen Besuchs in Chemnitz im Juni 2012. Mit dieser Kupplung, die sich von einer Person handhaben lässt, können auch ICE-Züge rangiert werden. Die Stadt Chemnitz bemüht sich in Verhandlungen mit der Deutschen Bahn um einen Anschluss an das Schnellbahnnetz.
