Die Kryo-Elektronenmikroskopie hat erstmals einzelne Atome in einem Protein sichtbar gemacht. Die Cartoon-Darstellung zeigt einen Teils des Apoferritin-Proteins (gelb), bei dem eine Tyrosin-Seitenkette grau mit einzelnen Atomen (rot) hervorgehoben ist.
