Die zeitliche Abfolge von Bildern im Radiolicht des innersten Bereichs von M 87 zeigt einen Anstieg des Radioflusses aus dem Zentrum der Galaxie im Frühjahr 2008. Während des Anstiegs ließ sich verstärkte Aktivität auch im hochenergetischen Gammastrahlungsbereich beobachten.
