Bei der Parkinson-Krankheit sterben Nervenzellen in der Substantia nigra im Mittelhirn. Im Vergleich zum gesunden Mausgehirn (links) ist rechts der Verlust der Nervenzellen deutlich zu erkennen. Max-Planck-Wissenschaftler und Kollegen konnten nun zeigen, dass erst das Zusammentreffen von drei Bedingungen das Parkinson-charakteristische Zellsterben auslöst.
