Typ 1 Tumore zeigen eine gute Abgrenzung zum Rückenmarksgewebe und können daher komplett reseziert werden. In der oberen Reihe (A, B) gezeigt ist ein Ependymom des cervikalen Rückenmarks, welches im MRT Kontrastmittel aufnimmt. Die DTI Traktographie zeigt, dass der Tumor nicht von Nervenfasern durchzogen wird. (B). Typ 3 Tumore werden zum größten Teil von Nervenfasern durchzogen und können daher nicht reseziert werden. (C, D) Hier gezeigt ist ein intramedulläres Astrozytom mit Kontrastmittel Aufnahme. Die DTI Traktographie zeigt, dass mehr als die Hälfte des Tumorvolumens von Fasern durchzogen wird. (D)
