Abbildung: FGF-2 exprimierende Tumorzellen bilden in Nacktmäusen Tumore aus. Werden kultivierte kolorektale CaCo2 Tumorzellen unter Einsatz der Kernfärbungssubstanz Hoechst 33342 in negative (side population, SP) und positive (non side population, nSP) getrennt und anschließend unter die Haut in Nacktmäuse gespritzt, so wachsen nur die stark FGF-2 (FGF-2ho) - aber nicht die gering oder nicht FGF-2 (FGF-2lo) exprimierenden Zellen zu Tumoren heran.
