Goldene Wellen: Die Computersimulation zeigt die elektrische Feldstärke in der Umgebung von nanoskaligen Goldstreifen (Abbildung im Querschnitt), wenn diese mit Infrarotlicht bestrahlt werden. In einer Versuchsreihe wurde die Wechselwirkung zwischen den Oberflächenplasmonen des Goldes - zusammengesetzten Wellen aus elektromagnetischen Feldern und Elektronen - und den Elektronen in der darunter liegenden Halbleiterschicht nachgewiesen.
