Anläßlich der Verleihung der Wilhelm-Manchot-Forschungsprofessur 1999 an Prof. Michael R. Zalutsky vom Duke University Medical Center, Durham, USA, veranstalten die Pinguin-Stiftung sowie das Anorganisch-chemische Institut und die Nuklearmedizinische Klinik und Poliklinik der TU München ein Festkolloquium. Prof. Zalutsky spricht über das Thema "Application of Radiohalogen Chemistry to the Development of Molecularly Specific Ratiotherapeutics".

Der Chemiker Wilhelm Manchot (1869 - 1945) war von 1914 bis 1935 Professor und Direktor des Anorganisch-chemischen Instituts der damaligen TH München; 1927 wurde er zum Geheimrat, 1929 zum Mitglied der Bayerischen Akademie der Wissenschaften ernannt.
Der 1949 geborene Michael R. Zalutsky absolvierte sein Chemiestudium an der Washington University. Seit 1985 ist er Professor für Radiologie und Associate Professor für Pathologie am Duke University Medical Center. Sein wissenschaftliches Interesse gilt der Entwicklung therapeutischer Radiopharmaka, radiomarkierten monklonalen Antikörpern, der Chemie des Astats sowie der Positronenemissionstomographie. Zalutsky ist Berater in zahlreichen Gremien und Autor von derzeit mehr als 160 Publikationen.
