Mit Beteiligung des Bayreuther Lehrstuhls Werkstoffwissenschaften (Professorin Dr. Monika Willert-Porada) startet im November ein EU-gefördertes internationales Projekt "Meddelcoat", bei dem neue Implantat-Beschichtungen entwickelt und getestet werden sollen.
Bayreuth (UBT). Im November startet das EU-Integrated Project "Multifunctional bioresorbable biocompatible coatings with biofilm inhibition and optimal implant fixation", abgekürzt "Meddelcoat". Zwölf Partner aus Belgien, Frankreich, Slowenien, Italien, Finnland, Greichenland, der Schweiz und aus Deutschland werden in einem Zeitraum von vier Jahren neue Implantat-Beschichtungen entwickeln und testen.
Am Bayreuther Lehrstuhl für Werkstoffverarbeitung werden gradierte dünne Schichten über Mikrowellen- und Plasmaprozesse hergestellt und zusätzlich sowohl die Grundwerkstoffe aber auch vorhandene Beschichtungen funktionalisiert.
Das Gesamtbudget des IP liegt bei 5,7 Mio Euro, wobei 3,2 Mio Euro durch die EU getragen werden. Der Löwenanteil der EU Förderung entfällt auf Universitätsinstitute.
