In der Zeit vom 3. bis 7. April 2000 findet im Haus Hessenkopf in Goslar erstmals ein durch die Arbeitsgruppe Zahlentheorie des Instituts für Mathematik organisierter Workshop über analytische Zahlentheorie statt.
Zu den Zielen des Workshops gehören die Zusammenführung der verschiedenen Arbeitsgruppen, die Vorstellung aktueller Forschungsprojekte und neuer Ergebnisse, die Förderung des Nachwuchses und des Interesses an elementarer und analytischer Zahlentheorie unter Studierenden. Es nehmen nahezu alle in Deutschland auf diesem Gebiet tätigen Professoren mit ihren Arbeitsgruppen teil. Das wissenschaftliche Programm bietet neben sieben eingeladenen Übersichtsvorträgen zwölf angemeldete Vorträge über aktuelle Forschungsthemen der Arbeitsgruppen, die in der Mehrzahl von Nachwuchswissenschaftlern gehalten werden.
