Am Freitag, dem 16. Juni 2000, wird an der Universität des Saarlandes eine neue Arbeitsstelle für interkulturelle Québec-Studien und Nordamerikanische Frankophonie eröffnet.
Kontakte und Forschungsaktivitäten auf diesem Gebiet gibt es am Lehrstuhl für Romanische Kulturwissenschaft und Interkulturelle Kommunikation bereits seit 1993, dem Gründungsjahr des Faches. Mit der Einweihung der neuen Arbeitsstelle sollen nun die Aktivitäten in Lehre und Forschung gebündelt und weiter ausgebaut werden.
An der Veranstaltung am 16. Juni werden auch Vertreter der Kanadischen Botschaft in Deutschland, der Délégation du Québec en Allemagne, der Deutschen Gesellschaft für KanadaStudien (GKS) sowie Wissenschaftler aus Deutschland, Österreich, Frankreich, sowie Québec und anderen Teilen Kanadas teilnehmen.
Die Eröffnungsfeier wird von 9 bis 17 Uhr im Senatssaal der Universität (Gebäude 5) stattfinden.
Vertreter der Medien sind herzlich dazu eingeladen.
