Unter dem Thema "Developing Mathematics Education in a Systemic Process" spricht Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Erich Ch. Wittmann von der Universität Dortmund in dieser Woche in Japan über den systemischen Ansatz zur Unterrichtsreform, der im Projekt "mathe 2000" entwickelt wurde und erfolg-reich praktiziert wird.
Der Dortmunder Mathematik-Didaktiker hält einen der vier Hauptvorträge des 9. International Congress on Mathematical Education (ICME 9), der vom 31. Juli bis 6. August in Tokyo stattfindet.
Diese Didaktik-Kongresse werden seit 1968 alle vier Jahre durchgeführt. Wittmann ist der erste deutsche Mathematikdidaktiker seit 25 Jahren, der eine Einladung zu einem Hauptvortrag in dieser Reihe erhalten hat.
