Am kommenden Donnerstag, 4.12., hält Nobelpreisträgerin Professorin Dr. Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard ihren ersten Vortrag im Rahmen ihrer Mercator-Professur an der Universität Duisburg-Essen.
Der Vortrag über "Wachstum in Natur und Kultur" beginnt um 18 Uhr im Audimax am Duisburger Campus an der Lotharstraße. Der Eintritt ist frei, frühzeitiges Erscheinen ist ratsam.
Die berühmte Entwicklungsbiologin wird die verschiedenen Aspekte von Wachstum beleuchten. Wie ist das Leben auf der Erde entstanden, wie entwickelte sich der Artenreichtum? Was sind Stammzellen im Tierwachstum, was ist ihre Funktion, wie können sie therapeutisch eingesetzt werden? Wie entstand die menschliche Kultur und wie kam es zur Bevölkerungszunahme, die schließlich die Erde so verändert hat, dass um ihr Fortbestehen gebangt werden muss?
