Konferenz der Einstein Stiftung zum 20. Jahrestag des Mauerfalls findet mit Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel als Keynote-Sprecherin am 9. November 2009 statt
Vor zwanzig Jahren fiel in Berlin die Mauer. Das Ereignis veränderte die Welt. Am 9. November 2009, dem Jahrestag des Mauerfalls, stellt die Einstein Stiftung die Frage: "Welche Mauern fallen als nächstes - und wie wird das unser Leben verändern?" Über zwanzig internationale Spitzenforscher geben Antwort auf der Wissenschaftskonferenz "Falling Walls" und stellen die kommenden Durchbrüche in einer Vielzahl von Wissenschaftsgebieten vor.
Die Themenfelder sind: Anthropologie, Chemie, Energie, Ernährung, Geschichte, Immunologie, Ingenieurwissenschaft, Kommunikation, Kunstgeschichte, Mathematik, Medizin, Neurowissenschaft, Nuklearphysik, Paläontologie, Psychologie, Soziologie und Wirtschaft - um eine Auswahl zu nennen. Die Redner kommen von führenden Forschungseinrichtungen weltweit: beispielsweise CERN, Charité, Collège de France, Duke University, ETH Zürich, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Freie Universität und Technische Universität Berlin, Helmholtz Gemeinschaft, Iter, Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, MIT, Princeton, University of Chicago.
Die Keynote-Sprecherin ist dem Thema auf besondere Weise verbunden: Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel war bis zum Fall der Mauer als Wissenschaftlerin im Ostteil Berlins tätig.
Die Konferenz richtet sich an internationale Köpfe aus Wissenschaft, Politik, Wirtschaft, Kultur und Gesellschaft. Die Teilnehmerzahl ist auf 500 Personen begrenzt. Die Konferenzsprache ist Englisch. Die Teilnehmer sind am Vorabend, 8. November, sowie am 9. November zu einem Abendessen und Get together eingeladen.

Falling Walls - The Berlin Conference on Future Breakthroughs in Science and Society: Einstein Foundation Conference on the 9th of November 2009
On the 9th of November 2009, the 20th anniversary of the end of the iron curtain, the Einstein Foundation will organise an international conference in Berlin on future breakthroughs in science and society. Over twenty acclaimed international researchers will lecture at the scientific conference 'Falling Walls' and look to highlight the next breakthroughs in a wide variety of scientific areas.
The conference's topics will cover among other fields: anthropology, chemistry, energy, nutrition, history, immunology, engineering, communications, art history, mathematics, medicine, neuroscience, nuclear physics, paleontology, psychology, sociology and economics.
The event will gather distinguished guests from the academic world, government, business and the arts. The number of participants is limited to 500 and all lectures will be held in English. Participants are invited to a pre-event dinner on the 8th of November, and a closing dinner and get together on the 9th of November.
