Professor Dr. med. Dr. h.c. Manfred Wirth, Direktor der Klinik und Poliklinik für Urologie im Universitätsklinikum Carl Gustav Carus an der Technischen Universität Dresden, wurde jetzt auf dem größten europäischen Krebskongress in Berlin in "Board of Directors" der ECCO (European Cancer Organisation) gewählt.
"Damit sind die europäischen Urologen, die einen sehr großen Anteil an onkologischen Patienten betreuen und in der Onkologie wissenschaftlich stark engagiert sind, nun erstmals in der internationalen Organisation vertreten", so Professor Wirth. Insgesamt repräsentiert die im September 2007 gegründete Non-Profit-Organisation ECCO, 24 Mitgliedsgesellschaften und über 50.000 ausgewiesene Krebsexperten, die auf interdisziplinärer und multinationaler Ebene neue Strategien in der Krebs-Forschung, Prävention, Diagnose, Behandlung, Nachsorge und Pflege entwickeln.
