Für Chemie-Dissertation an der TU München: Dr. Volker Böhm erhält Honorable Mention der IUPAC
Die Internationale Union für Reine und Angewandte Chemie (IUPAC) hat eine an der TU München angefertigte Doktorarbeit mit der begehrten Honorable Mention ausgezeichnet: Dr. Volker Böhm hatte in seiner Dissertation Katalytische Aktivierung von Chloraromaten in der Heck-Kupplung Möglichkeiten aufgezeigt, auf katalytische Weise wohlfeile, teils toxische Chloraromaten in chemische Wertprodukte umzuwandeln.
Wie die IUPAC mitteilt, ist die Auszeichnung aufgrund der richtungsweisenden Ergebnisse ergangen, die mit Hilfe neu entwickelter molekularer Katalysatoren möglich würden. Doktorvater war TU-Präsident Prof. Wolfgang A. Herrmann, Ordinarius für Anorganische Chemie. Dr. Böhm forscht zur Zeit an der University of South Carolina in Chapel Hill/USA.
