Gastvortrag von Marjorie Perloff am Mittwoch, dem 7. November um 17.00 Uhr
Am Mittwoch, dem 7. November 2001 hält Marjorie Perloff, Professor Emeritus der Stanford University, im Rahmen der Fraenkel Lectures des John F. Kennedy Instituts für Nordamerikastudien der Freien Universität Berlin um 17.00 Uhr c.t. einen Vortrag mit dem Titel "The Conceptual Poetics of Marcel Duchamp". Der Vortrag findet im kleinen Saal des Ethnologischen Museums Dahlem statt.
Marjorie Perloff - die in Wien geboren ist, aber seit ihrer Kindheit in den USA lebt - gehört zu den profiliertesten und produktivsten Kennerinnen sowohl der modernen Avantgarden als auch der amerikanischen Lyrik- und Kunstszene des 20. Jahrhunderts. Die streitbare Intelligenz und rhetorische Energie, die ihre Publikationen auszeichnen, haben sie auch international berühmt gemacht. Zu ihren bekanntesten Buchveröffentlichungen gehören: The Poetics of Indeterminacy: Rimbaud to Cage (1981), The Dance of the Intellect: Studies in the Poetry of the Pound Tradition (1985), The Futurist Moment: Avant-Garde, Avant Guerre, and the Language of Rupture (1986), Poetic Licence: Essays on Modernist and Postmodernist Lyric (1990), Radical Artifice: Writing Poetry in the Age of Media (1991) und Wittgenstein's Ladder: Poetic Language and the Strangeness of the Ordinary (1996). Ihr neues Buch zu "Avant-Garde Eliot" steht kurz vor dem Abschluss.
Ort: Ethnologisches Museum Dahlem, Eingang entweder Fabeckstr. 14 oder Lansstraße, gegenüber dem Kennedy Institut, vorbei an den Exponaten der Alt-Amerika und Südsee-Sammlungen des Museums.
