für Prof. Dr. H. Walter Lack
Der langjährige Direktor an der Zentraleinrichtung Botanischer Garten und Botanisches Museum Berlin Dahlem der Freien Universität erhielt kürzlich die erste Sibthorp Medaille der Universität Oxford. Prof. Dr. H. Walter Lack studierte in Wien Biologie; an der FU ist er seit 1990 als Direktor am Botanischen Garten.
Diese neu geschaffene Auszeichnung wurde für Verdienste um die systematische Botanik in Oxford dieses Jahr erstmalig verliehen. Die Überreichung fand am 5. November 2001 im Rahmen einer akademischen Feierstunde im großen Hörsaal des Department for Plant Sciences der Universität Oxford statt.
