Jean Claude Zehnder ist international angesehen als Interpret alter Orgel- und Cembalomusik. Der Baseler Künstler und Wissenschaftler lehrt an der Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. Zugleich ist er in der Bach-Forschung tätig, speziell auf dem Gebiet der Stilentwicklung und der Interpretationsforschung. Am 31. Januar wird ihm die Ehrendoktorwürde der Universität Dortmund verliehen.
Die Feier zur Würdigung des großen Bach-Kenners beginnt am 31.1.02 um 18:00 Uhr im Hörsaal der Fakultät Maschinenbau, Leonhard-Euler-Str. 5 auf dem Campus Nord der Universität Dortmund.
An der Feier, zu der jetzt Dekan Prof. Dr. Werner Abegg eingeladen hat, werden sich internationale Kollegen beteiligen: Die Festansprache hält Prof. Dr. h. c. Gustav Leonhardt (Amsterdam). Musik für Cembalo oder Virginal von William Byrd, John Dowland, J. S. Bach und Dietrich Buxtehude wird gespielt von den Künstlern Peter Williams (Großbritannien), Michael Belotti (Schweiz) und dem künftigen Ehrendoktor selbst.
Die Laudatio hält Prof. Dr. Martin Geck, Emeritus des Instituts für Musik und ihre Didaktik, der selbst zu den namhaften Bach-Forschern Europas zählt. Die Verleihung der Würde übernimmt der Rektor der Universität Dortmund, Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Albert Klein.
