Einer alten akademischen Tradition folgend, lädt die Fakultät für Mathematik der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg zu zwei öffentlichen Antrittsvorlesungen ein.
Prof. Dr. Rainer Schwabe, Lehrstuhlinhaber Mathematische Stochastik, spricht zum Thema "Angewandte Mathematische Statistik - oder: Der Versuch die Wirklichkeit zu beschreiben". Statistische Methoden finden in fast allen Wissenschaftsbereichen Anwendung. Anhand einiger Projekte aus der Marktforschung, der Psychologie und der Medizin will der Stochastiker dies exemplarisch illustrieren, wobei planerische Aspekte im Vordergrund stehen.
Anlässlich des Beginns seiner Lehrtätigkeit an der Magdeburger Universität hält Priv.-Doz. Dr. Thomas Müller-Gronbach eine Antrittsvorlesung, zum Thema "Starke Approximation stochastischer Differentialgleichungen".
Beide Antrittsvorlesungen finden am Donnerstag, dem 21. November 2002, 15.00 Uhr, statt. Die Öffentlichkeit ist dazu herzlich eingeladen. Der Eintritt ist frei.
