Chemiker der Universität-Gesamthochschule Essen sind Initiatoren eines von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) eingerichteten Schwerpunktprogrammes zum Thema "Halbleiter- und Metallcluster als Bausteine für organisierte Strukturen". Während einer Laufzeit von zwei mal drei Jahren will die DFG die Arbeit der Wissenschaftler, die sich beteiligen, mit insgesamt 18 Millionen Mark fördern. Projektbeginn ist der 1. Januar nächsten Jahres. Das Programm wird von Professor Günter Schmid, der in Essen das Fach Anorganische Chemie vertritt, koordiniert.
