Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU) and Doshisha University in Japan have expanded their agreement on the exchange of students: More HHU students can now study in Japan. A new “Short-term Programme” for students from Doshisha University has also been agreed.
During a visit to Düsseldorf, Professor Nobuyuki Yamauchi, Dean of the Faculty of Culture and Information Science, signed an agreement on behalf of Doshisha University together with Professor Anja Steinbeck, HHU President, which will lead to greater cooperation between the two universities. In future, more students from HHU’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities will have the opportunity to attend Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan. It was agreed at the same time that students from the Japanese university may visit HHU for shorter periods (less than a semester) in the framework of a “Short-term Programme” and enrol here as guest students. Now up to four students per year from HHU can attend Doshisha University for a year and up to four students from Doshisha University can spend a short period at HHU.
There has been an official exchange of students between the universities since 2012. Doshisha University, which was founded in Kyoto in 1878, has around 28.000 students and is considered to be one of the best private universities in Japan.
