Internationale und nationale Anerkennung
Die Arbeitsgruppe "autonome mobile Systeme" unter Leitung von Prof. Dr. Armin B. Cremers, Institut für Informatik III, ist vor kurzem gleich zweimal für ihre wissenschaftliche Leistung ausgezeichnet worden. Auf der in diesem Jahr größten internationalen Konferenz im Bereich "Künstliche Intelligenz", der North American Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI-98) in Madison, Wisconsin, erhielt das RHINO-Team den "Outstanding Paper Award". Von den über 450 eingereichten Arbeiten aus aller Welt wurde das Papier "The Interactive Museum Tour-Guide Robot" ausgewählt. Darin werden die für den Einsatz von RHINO als Museumsführer im Deutschen Museum Bonn entwickelten Techniken beschrieben.
Kurz Zeit später erhielten Dirk Hähnel, Dr. Wolfram Burgard und Prof. Dr. Gerhard Lakemeyer für die im Rahmen dieses Projektes entstandene Arbeit "GOLEX - Bridging the Gap between Logic (GOLOG) and a Real Robot" auf der Deutschen Konferenz für Künstliche Intelligenz (KI-98) den Springer-Preis in Höhe von DM 1000,- für die beste eingereichte Arbeit.
