Online Lecture "Activating Museum Data: Possibilities of Digital Data in Museums", Tue, 11. Aug, 7 p.m. (CET) via Zoom

Dr. Verena Bopp Geschäftsstelle
Die Junge Akademie an der Berlin-Brandenburgischen Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Nationalen Akademie der Wissenschaften Leopoldina

Art Consultant and Curator Dr. Anne Luther will speak on the study, use, and visualisation of digital data in museums.

Registration free of charge required: https://www.diejungeakademie.de/index.php?id=450

As well-connected institutions, museums are engaged globally with the objects that they display, archive and study. Information is often collected and stored in digital databanks. What can we learn from investigation of this digital material?

Drawing on international examples from the past 5 years, art consultant and curator Dr. Anne Luther will give insights into the study, use, and visualisation of museum data, to open up new perspectives on physical objects and the history of museums.

The lecture is being organised by Die Junge Akademie members Isabelle Dolezalek (Universität Greifswald), Simon Wolfgang Fuchs (Universität Freiburg) and Valeska Huber (Freie Universität Berlin), who are currently working on the project “Hack the Middle East” concerning digital data and related research formats.

The lecture will be held in English. Please sign up free of charge (link below).

Attendance will require access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other such device and internet connection. Additionally, we recommend the use of a webcam and headset. Login details will be sent on the day of the event to the Email-address provided in the online application form.

Please feel free to contact us regarding any additional inquiries.
