Die weltweit führende Tagung über Computer-Architektur ISCA 2004 (The 31st International Symposium on Computer Architecture) findet von 19. bis 23. Juni 2004 in München statt.
Im Bayerischen Hof diskutieren über 500 Forscher und Entwickler aus 30 Ländern die Architektur von Mirkoprozessoren und Computersystemen der Zukunft. Die erstmals in Deutschland durchgeführte Fachtagung wird von den einschlägigen Fachorganisationen Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI) und Informationstechnische Gesellschaft im VDE (ITG) ausgerichtet. Tagungsleiter sind TUM-Ehrendoktor Prof. Michel Dubois, University of Southern California, und TUM-Vizepräsident Prof. Arndt Bode.
Die ISCA 2004 ist ein Diskussionsforum für Entwickler aus der Mikroelektronik-Industrie, die hier zukünftige Entwicklungen mit den Grundlagenforschern aus den Universitäten und Forschungslabors diskutieren. Unter den über 500 Experten ist unter anderen der 93-jährige Computer-Pionier Maurice Wilkens, auf den das Prizinp der Mikroprogrammierung zur Steuerung von Computern zurückgeht.
