It also assesses the degree of international cooperation in the related research. In some areas, the number of major prizes awarded to scientists is also taken into account. These indicators are weighted according to the prevailing culture in the various subject areas.

Further subjects at the top of other rankings

In the other internationally renowned subject rankings, TUM is among the best universities in further subjects. In the QS World University Rankings by Subject, it is ranked 18th in Physics / Astronomy, 19th in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and 20th in Chemistry, for example.

In the THE World University Rankings by Subject, which evaluates broader subject areas, TUM is ranked 15th in Computer Science and 22nd in both Engineering and Physical Sciences.
