Weltmeisterschaft im Juni ebenfalls an Paderborner Hochschule
Paderborn. Vom 3.-7.2.1999 findet an der Universität - Gesamthochschule Paderborn das 8. Internationale Computerschachturnier statt. In den letzten Jahren hat sich die Arbeitsgruppe um Prof. Dr. Burkhard Monien im Fachbereich Mathematik/Informatik zu einem Zentrum deutscher Computerschachaktivitäten entwickelt.
Das Turnier, an dem vierzehn Schachprogramme teilnehmen werden, ist das letzte Vorbereitungsturnier auf die nächste große Herausforderung, die Computerschach-Weltmeisterschaft, die im Juni ebenfalls an der Paderborner Universität stattfinden wird.
Als Favoriten gelten das Programm MChess von Marty Hirsch aus den USA und Clever & Smart von Stefan Meyer-Kahlen aus Deutschland.
