Zum Abschlusstreffen eines Projektverbundes im deutschen Klimaforschungsprogramms DEKLIM (http://www.deklim.de) treffen sich am Montag, den 28. Februar 2005 mehr als 30 Ostseeforscher am Max-Planck-Institut für Meteorologie in Hamburg.
Die Forscher werden die Güte ihrer Ergebnisse des im Rahmen ihres Verbundes entwickelten Modells BALTIMOS (http://www.baltimos.de) diskutieren. BALTIMOS (BALTEX - Integrated Model System) ist ein Projekt im Bereich "Regionale Prozessstudien im Ostseeraum" innerhalb des DEKLIM-Programms. An diesem Projektverbund nahmen neun deutsche Institute teil.
Mit BALTIMOS ist es erstmals möglich, Veränderungen des Wasserkreislaufs im Einzugsgebiet der Ostsee vollständig zu berechnen. BALTIMOS ist eines von zwei gekoppelten regionalen Klimamodellen im internationalen Forschungsverbund BALTEX und bildet zusammen mit dem schwedischen Modell das wesentliche Werkzeug zur Untersuchung möglicher zukünftiger Klimaänderungen sowie ihrer Auswirkungen im Ostseeraum.
