Zur feierlichen Amtseinführung des Direktors der Universitätsbibliothek Leipzig, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Johannes Schneider, laden wir herzlich ein.
Ulrich Johannes Schneider ist seit Januar 2006 im Amt. Er war zuvor sieben Jahre lang an der Herzog August Bibliothek Wolfenbüttel tätig und ist als Philosophiehistoriker durch zahlreiche Veröffentlichungen bekannt. Am 2. Mai wird Schneider unter dem Titel ''Die Unsichtbarkeit der Bibliothek'' für den Bibliothekar als zentrale Figur in der modernen Wissensgesellschaft plädieren.
Den Festvortrag hält Professor Dr. Wolfgang Ernst von der Humboldt-Universität Berlin. Ernst hat dort eine Professur für Medientheorie inne und hat sich einen Namen als Historiker, Museologe und Archivtheoretiker gemacht. Seine Ausführungen stehen unter dem Titel ''Bibliothek und Maschine - Fokus Leibniz''.
Zum Festakt im Freihandbereich West der prachtvoll wiederaufgebauten Bibliotheca Albertina wird erstmals die Uni-Bigband Leipzig spielen.
