Die deutsch-französische Hochschule hat beschlossen, an der Humboldt-Universität und an der Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris ein gemeinsames Doktorandenkolleg (DFDK) zum Thema "Wege der Repräsentationen, Transformationen und Transfers. Europa vom Mittelalter zur Moderne" einzurichten. Von Seiten der Humboldt-Universität sind an dem Kolleg beteiligt: Prof. Dr. Michael Borgolte, Prof. Dr. Horst Bredekamp, Prof. Dr. Hartmut Kaelble. Aus Berlin sind zudem beteiligt: Prof. Dr. Etienne François, Frankreich-Zentrum TU Berlin, PD Dr. Dieter Gosewinkel, WZB Berlin, PD Dr. Jakob Vogel, Frankreich-Zentrum, TU Berlin. Auf französischer Seite wird das Kolleg getragen von dem Leiter des CIERA, des Zentrums für Deutschlandstudien in Paris, Direktor Dr. Michael Werner, von dem Mediävisten Direktor Jean-Paul Schmitt und von dem früheren Leiter der französischen Mission Historique in Göttingen, Direktor Pierre Monnet. Sprecher des Kollegs sind Direktor Dr. Pierre Monnet, EHESS Paris, und Prof. Dr. Hartmut Kaelble, Humboldt-Universität. Das Doktorandenkolleg dient dem deutsch-französischen Austausch von Doktoranden der Geschichts-, Kunst- und Sozialwissenschaften. Es kann Aufenthalte von Doktoranden im jeweils anderen Land, Workshops und Dozentenaustausch finanzieren. Es wird 2006/2007 seine Tätigkeit aufnehmen.
