Eine nicht ganz alltägliche Ehre erfuhr jetzt die Bayreuther Professorin Dr. Sigrid Liede-Schumann, Lehrstuhlinhaberin für Pflanzensystematik. Ihr zu Ehren wurde "Liedea" benannt, eine neue Gattung aus der Gruppe der Schwalbenwurzgewächse.

Die Pflanzensystematikerin erforscht seit Jahren Schwalbenwurzgewächse
Bayreuth (UBT). Eine nicht ganz alltägliche Ehre erfuhr jetzt Prof. Dr. Sigrid Liede-Schumann, Lehrstuhlinhaberin für Pflanzensystematik. Ihr zu Ehren wurde "Liedea" benannt, eine neue Gattung aus der Gruppe der Schwalbenwurzgewächse (Apocynaceae-Asclepiadoideae).
Der amerikanische Pflanzensystematiker W. D. Stevens vom Missouri Botanical Garden, St. Louis (USA), beschreibt Liedea in der vorletzten Ausgabe [15(4), 2005] der taxonomischen Zeitschrift "Novon". Die neue Gattung umfaßt nur die eine Art Liedea filisepala - eine zarte Kletterpflanze mit extrem langen Kelchblättern (daher der Artname) und kleinen Blütenkronen (s. Abbildung). Die Art ist in Costa Rica beheimatet.
Prof. Liede-Schumann erforscht seit vielen Jahren schwerpunktmäßig die Stammesgeschichte und Systematik der neuweltlichen Schwalbenwurzgewächse.
