Invitation to European Forum for Quality Assurance, Munich, Germany 23-25 Nov 2006: Hosted by the Technische Universität München and co-organised by EUA, the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), the National Unions of Students in Europe (ESIB) and the European Association of Institutions in Higher Education (EURASHE), the Forum will gather together the leadership of quality assurance/accreditation agencies and higher education institutions with the goal of building a shared understanding of how to further develop a European dimension for quality assurance.
The first initiative of its kind in Europe, the Forum grew from the realisation that discussions on quality issues are predominately confined to national contexts, and that those taking place at European level do not facilitate dialogue between universities and quality assurance/accreditation agencies. Consequently, EUA and its partners proposed to bring these two groups together to examine how Quality Assurance procedures should evolve and adapt to emerging higher education trends.
Specifically, the event aims to promote a sound approach to Quality Assurance by encouraging internal quality developments in higher education institutions and to foster research focused specifically on Quality Assurance.
Planned as an annual event, the programme of this first Forum will include plenary debates and work group discussions based on papers, including case studies, identified via a call for papers launched earlier this year.
A post-conference publication is also planned based on some of the papers presented at the Forum as well as more extensive articles.
Further information including a preliminary programme is now available.
There are a limited number of places to attend the conference for members of the press. Please contact me to register or for further details. Unfortunately EUA cannot pay accommodation and travel costs.
