Der Verwaltungsrat der TU München hat Prof. Dr.-Ing. Rudolf Schilling (62) einstimmig für eine zweite Amtszeit als Vizepräsident gewählt.
Rudolf Schilling begann nach dem Maschinenbaustudium in Karlsruhe seine berufliche Laufbahn als Konstrukteur in der Industrie. Danach war er Hochschulassistent an der Universität Karlsruhe (TH), wo er 1976 auch promovierte. Nach einer weiteren Industrietätigkeit beim Turbinenhersteller Voith in Heidenheim wurde er im Oktober 1988 an die TUM berufen. Sein Hauptarbeitsgebiet sind hydraulische Kraftmaschinen.
Schwerpunkte seiner Arbeit als Vizepräsident sind die internationale Ausgründung des "German Institute of Science and Engineering Pte. Ltd" in Singapur, kooperative Studienangebote mit Universitäten im Ausland sowie Ansiedlungsprojekte forschender Unternehmen auf dem Forschungscampus Garching.
