Prof. Thomas William Reps vom Computer Science Department der University of Wisconsin in Madison, USA, wird künftig auch in Saarbrücken und Trier forschen: Aufenthalte zwischen einem halben Jahr und einem Jahr ermöglicht der Humboldt-Forschungspreis, der dem Wissenschaftler jetzt verliehen wurde.
Die Auszeichnung erhielt Reps auf Vorschlag der Professoren Reinhard Wilhelm (Universität des Saarlandes), Harald Ganzinger (Max-Planck-Institut für Informatik, Saarbrücken) und Helmut Seidl (Universität Trier).
Der Preis würdigt seine Leistungen in der Forschung und Lehre auf dem Gebiet der Informatik. Die Arbeiten von Prof. Reps betreffen Grundlagen, Methoden und Werkzeuge in der Softwareentwicklung, besonders solche, die auf Programmiersprachen basieren.
Seit mehreren Jahren kooperiert Prof. Reps mit Prof. Reinhard Wilhelm, der an der Saar-Uni den Lehrstuhl für Programmiersprachen und Übersetzerbau innehat und als Wissenschaftlicher Direktor das Internationale Begegnungs- und Forschungszentrum für Informatik, Schloss Dagstuhl, leitet.
