Mit den jüngsten Massenmorden innerhalb einer christlichen Splittergruppe in Uganda wird sich der Religionssoziologe Prof. Dr. Irving Hexham in einem öffentlichen Vortrag befassen, den er am Dienstag, den 16. Mai 2000 an der Universität Leipzig hält. Er spricht zum Thema "Black Mischief: An analysis of recent 'cult' related murders in Uganda" (Schwarzes Unheil: Analyse der jüngsten Massenmorde in einer religiösen Gruppe in Uganda").

Professor Hexham lehrt Religionswissenschaft an der Universität Calgary (Kanada) und ist spezialisiert auf neue Religionen, insbesondere christliche Bewegungen in Afrika. Er kommt auf Einladung von Prof. Dr. Hubert Seiwert vom Religionswissenschaftlichen Institut der Universität Leipzig im Zusammenhang mit dem Forschungsschwerpunkt "Neue Religionen" des Instituts.
