Vom 26. bis 28. Mai findet im Hauptgebäude der Europa-Universität Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder), Raum 109 (Senatssaal), die englischsprachige internationale Konferenz "Political Culture in Central and Eastern Europe" statt. Die Konferenz steht unter der Leitung von Prof. Dr. Detlef Pollack, Soziologe an der Kulturwissenschaftlichen Fakultät. Die Präsidentin der Viadrina, Prof. Dr. Gesine Schwan, wird die Konferenzteilnehmer am ersten Tag um 9.30 Uhr begrüßen. Es werden Wissenschaftler aus England, Österreich, Polen, Russland, Spanien, Ungarn, USA und Deutschland erwartet.
Die Konferenz ist während der drei Tage in fünf Themenblöcke aufgeteilt:
1. Die Politische Kultur, Annäherung nach 40 Jahren
2. Kultur und Demokratisierung
3. Determinaten von politischen Verhaltensweisen
4. Vergleichende Studien über Werte und Verhaltensweisen in Mittel- und Osteuropa
5. Studien über Werte und Verhaltensweisen in Deutschland
